Re: not bad sales for sugarcane in first week

Record sales have been lagging very much in the last 15 years or so. There have been good sellers in this period but in general, from the 90's on things have taken a turn for the worse. Computer technologies and general bad decisions by the record companies themselves are the main culprits. I'm just ...

Re: not bad sales for sugarcane in first week

Considering general lagging sales and the fact that the album isn't very commercial I don't consider it bad at all.
It's a promising start at least.Hopefully It will surpass Momofuku and I thought that album was more commercial than this one.

Elvis or elton....Who's the more versatile composer?

I saw this on the crazywater forum and think it is a testament to Elvis's talent and diversity that he would be would be discussed about and even praised on an Elton john forum. Anyway,I wanted to know who you consider to be the most versatile of our pop era,and if you have any third or fourth...

I would suspect that they're including more things(compilations and so forth). I just dont think they're wrong by such a wide margin though. I posted this because I thought the figure to be a little inflated myself, and who knows- maybe The Man is appreciated after all;despite the fact that albums li...

I dont know-I can accept the fact that they're wrong about their stats;but there are major differences of opinion as far as to what we fans think he has sold and 100 million copies. So I figure:could they be wrong by THAT many records? Could it be,therefore, that most of us have underrated E.C's comme...

IB is my favorite EC album. It does have an ethereal quality to it;the way the instrumentation is mixed and so forth but I always thought Elvis's vocals on it,while sad in some instances, sounded more surreal than anything else. I'm one who believes his singing on that album is extraordinary, and the s...

I cant believe those numbers either to be quite frank.Be it 15 or 100 million;I dont listen to costello's records because of their popularity anyways,so it's not as if it's that relevant to me. I posted this because I couldnt believe the numbers;I wouldnt mind them being true however. If anybody els...

not quite-it's not like record sales leave that much money in the artist coffers.
anyways, they have the album rankings as well at wikipedia which is where I got the link from so they do seem to know what they're saying. :?

so glad to be an elvis fan

cant wait to hear his new albums. In a world which has lost it's sense of what music is(today's being especially pathetic)it's so refreshing to hear someone who still has something to say, both verbally and musically. And even some of the veteran artists have lost their touch(elton john in particular-...

Re: ahhhh discrepancies.....

 IMO I cant see anyone else coming close to the league both dylans are in. Am I reading this correctly? You actually consider Jakob Dylan to be in the same league as his father? A higher league than Elvis, for that matter? I dunno, I like some of the Wallflowers stuff, but I think Jakob...

who's the better lyricist?

Ok I know I prob shouldn't be doing this~it is somewhat childish but heck-childish things are fun(most of them)....what I'm asking is which of the two are better at wordplay, imagery, metaphor etc..as well as who is more powerful and/or entertaining in their message. Come on guys and gals lets have a ...
